What is the Wings For Life race reaching Valencia in May?

Surely you have Heard of the Wings For Life, but… do you know that is coming to Valencia Ciudad del Running next 8^th May? A different race and a great event that joins the city of running.

Wings for Life World Run is a global race for runners and wheelchair runners that starts at 11 am UTC on the 8^th May 2016. In our city the race will start at 1 pm and will finish when the Catcher Car catches all the participants.

What is Wings for Life?

It is a non-profit foundation that investigates the cure for spinal cord injuries. The 100% of the incomes in registrations and donations will be assigned for investigation.

Who can compete?

Everybody. Athletes of all levels, from beginners to élite runners and wheelchair users.

Where can I run?

Wherever in the 34 locations around the world or run your own itinerary with the Selfie Run App.

Will everybody run at the same time?

Right! Everybody will run at the same time, morning, afternoon or evening. At 11am UTC starts the race.

How long do I have to run?

There is no finish line, so you can run as long as you can without letting the Catcher Car reach you.

How is the Catcher Car?

The Catcher Car has an intelligent system that activates when you pass it. Cars will start globally 30 minutes after the participats have started and will go faster until it reaches all the participants.

What sort of pace will the Catcher Car drive at?

It starts 30 minutes after runners have started:

13.30 UTC – Catcher Car starts – pace: 15 km/h (9.32 mph)
14.30 UTC – pace increase to 16 km/h (9.94 mph)
15.30 UTC – pace increase to 17 km/h (10.56 mph)
16.30 UTC – pace increase to 20 km/h (12.43 mph)
18.30 UTC – pace increase to 35 km/h (21.75 mph)

How can I go back to the start line?

Take a look to the information section for participants of your location. In each race this will be different. Do not worry, you will not have to go hitch-hicking!

Who wins?

Global winners will be the last female and male to be caught by the Catcher Car. Each country will have a national winner and definitely each participant will be a winner.
