Improvements and innovations in the 2016 Valencia Half Marathon

28 January, 2016

With the object of enhancing the race, the organization of the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Half Marathon has been working on different new features and improvements for the race taking place in the 26th edition, which will be held on the 23rd October 2016. The main novelties are:

  • The race will start at 9 am and will finish at 11.30 a.m., which is the official maximum time for the race.
  • To ensure a smooth and safe start for all race participants Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Half Marathon will start in two groups.

All the athletes accredited until 1h 45’59’’ will start at 9 a.m., based on the previous order set in the registration forms.

All the other participants registered with finishing times similar or over 1h 46’ will start at 9.07 a.m.

The decision of having two groups will not affect in any case the entire or correct timing of all athletes, whatever the group is. The organization reserves the right to build a third group, which will be conveniently reported, if there were more than 15,000 participants.

  • Any runner registering with the object of finishing the half marathon in less than 1h 46’ 00’’ must provide his or her previous best record in marathon, half marathon or 10K through the process set in the registration website, or after enquiry of the organization, in order to certify that participants are able to finish the race, according to their expected record, and to be entered in the proper corral, based on the table of the Technical Committee of the race, based on the IAAF Hungarian Scoring Table.
  • There will be 6 start line corrals:

Yellow race bib: under 1h12’ (men) and under 1h 20 (women)

Green race bib: under 1h 25’

Blue race bib: under 1h 35’

Orange race bib: under 1h 46’

Violet race bib: under 1h 55’

White race bib: 1h 55’ or more

All this information and further requirements are available in the Official Rules of the Race.
