Nine months before it gets under way, the Valencia Marathon Trinidad Alfonso Zurich has hung up the no-bibs remaining sign. The race, organised by SD Correcaminos and Valencia City Council, has now sold out the 35,000 registrations available to take part in its 44th edition, which will take place on 1 December.

The best marathon in Spain, according to the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation, opened registration to the general public on 12 December with 2000 more places than last year. However, despite the increase, the response from the runners has been even better, as it has sold out in just over two months, whereas in 2023 it took until the beginning of June. This is the sixth consecutive year that the race has sold out.

“The runners show us year after year that they are really interested in the Valencia Marathon, but we are committed to a sustainable growth that allows us to maintain the quality of the race”, says Paco Borao, President of SD Correcaminos, who reminds us that “Valencia has the biggest marathon in the smallest city”.

More runners from abroad and repeaters

For the second year, the Valencia Marathon will have more international participants than nationals. In total, xx percent of those registered for the race come from outside Spain, xx percent from the rest of the country and XX percent are from the Comunitat Valenciana. As has become the norm in recent years, women’s participation increased by one point to 21 per cent with more than 7,300 women participating. This is also true for the debutantes at the distance. The figure of 47 per cent repeating the marathon in Valencia City of Running is also particularly noteworthy.

Other options to not miss out

Runners who have been left without a bib and wish to participate in the race on 1 December have the opportunity to do so by joining the waiting list which will be opened today and which will be used to cover the places of registered runners who wish to cancel their registration due to injury or who make use of the refund insurance they took out during registration.

Another option is to purchase one of the 100 Premium registrations, which turns the race into a VIP experience and includes, in addition to the race bib, extra services such as a poncho and medal engraving, along with other exclusive services such as access to the VIP area for the runner and their companion, an official photo at the finish line and a changing room after the race, as well as a bib for the runner and their companion for the Bimbo Valencia Breakfast Run and entry to the La Fallera Paella Party. Premium registration can still be purchased on the race’s official website.
