The Spina Bifida Active Foundation will run and cheer in the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia marathon

3 November, 2015

The Trinidad Alfonso Valencia marathon, organized by SD Correcaminos and the Valencian government, is reaffirming its support for charities in its 2015 edition. In every edition, the organization establishes links with a charity to which it gives all of the donations made throughout the trial. The different financial contributions help to build and channel the collaborative spirit of the runners and of the organization itself, which, with these contributions, reinforces the social aspect of the many different lives they touch in society.

In 2015, the Spina Bifida Active Foundation will benefit from this commitment. This foundation is a partnership with a broad social presence that aims to develop activities that properly respond to the requirements of its members and their families, and always looks to promote the best image of people with spina bifida or similar diseases.

An effort which is rewarded in many ways

In return for this support and solidarity the Spina Bifida Active Foundation, along with its members and friends, will organize several activities. In addition, they will finish with a video illustrating their work and effort before, during, and after the race, which will show runners what the life of those affected by spina bifida is like, as well as their enthusiasm for overcoming these problems.

The first of these activities will be on the eve of the trial and will be informative. On the 13 and 14, people from the spina bifida organization will be at the Expo Deporte Valencia, where anyone interested can find out about the foundation and disease, and can help by becoming a member.

On 15 November it will be time to put on the running shoes and in this case come out to cheer on the runners. And so, at the toughest kilometer (Km 41) a large number of members and friends of the Spina Bifida active Foundation will be present to cheer the marathon runners as they go by. Above all, they will be waiting for three of their own organization’s runners go past (who will be wearing a specially-designed t-shirt to identify them), who will be crossing the finish line on behalf of everyone.

€1 per runner crossing the finish line

Every runner that crosses the finish line will have contributed another €1 to the counter measuring the final sum donated to the charity. This action, promoted by the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, the event’s main collaborator, will transform the challenge met by each of the runners by running 42,195 m on foot, into a financial donation. The final number off marathon finishers will become the quantity donated to the Spina Bifida Active Foundation.
