Wings for Life Valencia 2017: It comes the race in which the finish line chases you

It is the second year that Wings For Life World Run comes to the City of Running. This global running event will be held in València once more, after having experienced it last year in our city.

On 7 May, 2017 the race will take place all over the world, starting at exactly 1 pm local time. 130,732 vocational long-distance runners participated last year all over the world.

34 different locations. Same aims: to raise as much money as possible (100% of registrations) for the investigation of spinal cord injuries. Same time: 11 am (UTC), in our case at 1 pm local time. Same rules: run fast before the Catcher car reaches runners putting and end to the adventure. This time the car will be driven in València by the F1 driver Carlos Sainz.

After 30 minutes of advantage, the Catcher car drives at 15 km / h (four minutes per kilometer in runner language) and accelerates every hour until reaching a pace of 35 km / h. Some of us are caught before. Chema Martínez, winner of three out of four editions held in Spain, this year wants to surpass 60 kilometers and reach 70 km.

New route in València

After the start line in the City of Arts and Sciences, the race will be run along 20 km through the city. After, it will be conducted to the North, beside the Mediterranean coast in search of the best runners. The cause exceeds the sporting challenge, so the miles run by modest ones are as worth as the champion ones. Thus, all the money raised with the registration (€25 per bib number) will be donated to Wings for Life World Run foundation (6.6 million euros last year).

Dopo mezz’ora di vantaggio, inizierà a circolare a 15 km/ora (quattro minuti per km nel linguaggio runner) e accelera ogni ora fino a raggiungere una velocità di crociera di km/ora. Alcuni vengono raggiunti prima. Altri, tra cui ad esempio Chema Martínez, vincitore di tre delle quattro edizioni disputate in Spagna, dopo. Quest’anno vuole superare i 60 chilometri e raggiungere i 70 percorsi.
