Valencia and Boston become good friends

19 May, 2016

Boston is a few days away from its 120th anniversary. This emblematic race is the oldest in the world and a ‘must run’ for any dedicated marathon runner. This truly historic edition is also a historic time for Valencia, this is the first time that the Valencia Marathon promotional team has crossed the pond to talk directly to runners on the other side of the Atlantic. Thousands of runners will visit the Boston Marathon Runners Fair in the days leading up to the big race. Valencia will be there to show the Americans and international runners what Valencia has to offer at the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Marathon and Half Marathon.

Boston runners are used to a great race and world-class organization. Valencia has been pushing for the last few years to be included in the roster of top running events; this effort was rewarded last year when the IAAF awarded the Valencia Marathon and Half Marathon a Gold Label each. Valencia’s world class organization, elite runners, flat course and record breaking times in combination with its great winter weather and warm local welcome make Valencia a top choice for running in October and November.

The Valencia Marathon and Half Marathon, organized by Correcaminos Athletics Club and the Valencian Government, are honored to be able to visit and be a part of the Boston Marathon. This year the Boston Marathon will have over 30,000 runners and a wonderful atmosphere for the spectators. Despite the tragic events of 2013, Boston will not miss a step and be sure to be one of the top events this year and for many years to come.

Valencia’s international presence continues to grow. The promotional team has visited London, Paris, Rotterdam, London and Madrid to extoll the virtues of one of the fastest growing marathons in the world. This year, Valencia hopes to further increase the visibility of the event by being part of the Boston Marathon. Valencia has a great reputation in the international running world that we hope to build on every year to make a very friendly international marathon into an even bigger and better international festival of running. This year, Valencia already has over 1,800 international runners signed up from over 53 different countries.
