FAQ Valencia Marathon Waiting List

The waiting list for the Valencia Marathon Trinidad Alfonso Zurich is made up of runners who were unsuccessful in the ballot. These runners will have the opportunity to obtain a race bib, at a price of €200 (plus a one-day licence), as places become available due to withdrawals from already registered participants.

No. New registrations for the waiting list are currently not being accepted.

Waiting list bibs come from withdrawals by registered runners. These bibs are allocated in order to people on the waiting list. Therefore, you will receive your bib when your turn comes.

Yes. When your turn comes, we will send you an email with instructions on how to register, and you will have a minimum of 24 hours to complete the process.

In the email you received regarding the waiting list, you will find a link that allows you to check your position at any time.

If you do not complete your registration within the indicated time after receiving the email, the bib will be released and assigned to the next person on the waiting list.

Yes, you can request an ownership bib transfer. Your spot will be offered directly to a person on the waiting list.

When someone from the waiting list registers and takes the spot you have vacated, we will refund the amount you paid when registering, minus a €5 administration fee, which will be deducted from the refund.

The refund will be made using the same payment method you used (refund to your bank card) within 30 days. Amounts paid as a solidarity donation, the refund service fee (if you purchased it), and any previous administrative or duplicate charges will not be refunded.

If the new registration is not completed before November 6, we will reactivate your registration so that you can take part in the race.

FAQs – Manage your entry

Dorsales_Expo

The Organisers of the Valencia Marathon Trinidad Alfonso EDP make a Self-Service Area available to all runners entered for the race. Runners can perform various entry management tasks in this area and request the services offered for the trial, all of which are spelt out in the regulations for the two races.

By making this request, the runner can quickly and efficiently check the details of his entry whenever needed.

Check your entry here

If you want to change some of the details of your entry (telephone number, e-mail address, bib text, and so on), you can do so here.

Change details of my entry

The Organisers will allow bib name changes up until the 1st of November 2020 in the case of the Marathon. This date may be extended should the Organisers deem this necessary.

An entered runner may request a change of entry holder. He will then receive a code for a new entry. The code should be given to the new runner who must then complete his entry (in keeping with the price in force for the tranche of entries, plus a €5 management fee). Once this has been paid, the first runner will receive a full refund and will be struck from the race.

here

Note: If the new runner does not complete the entry within three days, the code will be cancelled and the first entry will remain valid. The process for changing the runner‘s name may be repeated.

If an entered runner is injured before the race, he may request a refund of his subscription before the 1st of November for the Marathon. A medical certificate (NOT a physiotherapist’s certificate) must be attached for the Organisers’ consideration. Once the certificate has been validated and accepted, the runner will receive a full refund of his entry within 3 days. This option cannot be reversed and the runner will not be allowed to repeat the entry.

All participants can contract refund insurance if they so wish during the registration process. This insurance policy will allow them to recover 80% of the entry costs without having to give any justification for doing so as long as the claim is made before the 1st of November for the Marathon. The only sum not refundable is the RFEA Day Licence.

If you have improved your time in a 10km, Half-Marathon, or Marathon race that is officially certified, you can request a change of Starting Box for a faster one. This option will be free up until the 1st of November. From this date on, such a change will carry a fee of €15 to cover ‘Bib Reprinting and Administrative Costs’.

If you cannot go to The Runners’ Fair to pick up your bib and Runner’s Bag, you can authorise someone to do so for you. This option is free and you can request it simply by sending us an e-mail and a copy of the DNI/Passport of the person who will be picking up the bib and bag on your behalf. You can make such a request up until 3 P.M. of the Saturday before the race.

Tips on refreshments

Tips on nutrition and liquid intake

The 40th Valencia-Trinidad Alfonso EDP Marathon will be held on the 6st of December. We want to make sure that you safely complete the trial.

To run in the Marathon and complete the 42-kilometre circuit, you must not only have followed the whole training plan and a healthy diet, you also need rest. In addition you should also take your nutrition and liquid intake needs into account during the race itself.

During the race, runners will find no fewer than nine points along the route serving liquid and food refreshments. They are sited at 5-kilometre intervals (plus an extra one at Kilometre 37.5), plus at two special points providing gels (at approx. kilometres 19 and 29.At all of the Valencia Marathon refreshment points, you can get sealed bottles of water (33 cl.) and beakers/bottles of Powerade – an isotonic drink(15 cl.).There will be a special liquid and solid refreshment point at the Finishing Line.

Nutritional Information for the race

Below, we provide nutritional information by unit so that a runner knows exactly how much carbohydrates he or she is consuming during the race. This information is much more important than you think. You will need to drink the right quantities during the race and right from the first refreshment point, as well as take in mineral salts and carbohydrates. It is vital that you do not miss out any of the refreshment points. You should reckon on an intake of between 30 and 60 grams of carbohydrates each hour.

  • Drink between 25 and 30 cl. of water at every refreshment point (if possible, little by little rather than all at once).
  • Remember that the Powerade at each refreshment point contains carbohydrates (approximately 8 grams for each ’slug’ in a beaker – roughly 15 cl.). This is in addition to any gel you take.
  • From the refreshment point at Kilometre 25 to the Finish, there will be fruit at each of this succeeding points — bananas, dried apricots, and apricots.
    • Bananas: One banana contains about 33 grams of carbohydrates. By the same token, a third of a banana contains 11 grams of carbohydrates.
    • Dried Apricots: 1 dried apricot (9 grams) contains 5 grams of carbohydrates
  • At kilometres 19 and 29, Enervit brand gels will be handed out. Each sachet (25 grams) contains 17.8 grams of carbohydrates.
  • In addition, there will be water, isotonic drinks, and fruit at the Finish to help runners recover.

Other recommendationsMineral salts are important to prevent dehydration. Enervit and Powerade gels contain these essential minerals but we also recommend you take an extra capsule of mineral salts for each hour of the race with at least 20 cl. of water (never just the capsule on its own).Caffeine boosts performance but taking more of it does not help. The equivalent of a coffee before starting the race and no more than two during the race will help you to be more active and perform better (those who do not tolerate caffeine well should be careful because it may cause diarrhoea).
