ANAR and AFAV associations are the chosen good causes for the 2016 Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Marathon and Half Marathon

18 February, 2016

The Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Marathon and Half Marathon, organized by SD Correcaminos and the Valencian Government, have once again established their commitment to social causes by selecting two new non-profits for the 2016 races. The Association for Young people at Risk (ANAR) is the charity chosen by the Valencia Marathon and the Association for Alzheimer Families (AFAV) is the chosen good cause for the 2016 Valencia Half Marathon.

The Marathon and Half Marathon will make a charitable donation to help those most in need. The raising of the donation for the good causes comes from two main sources: 1) Donations coming directly from runners in the races and supporting activities. 2) A cash donation from the Trinidad Alfonso that matches the commitment from the runners through initiatives in and around the races. All donations are handed over after the races finish.

One of the biggest initiatives from the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation is the donation of 1€ for every finisher of the races. This has raised significant amounts of money for good causes since the foundation became the main sponsor of the events.

This 2016 will be a special year in the relationship between the races and their chosen charities. The Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Half Marathon will be working closely with the Alzheimer Foundation (AFAV), in its 25th year anniversary, to raise awareness of mental illnesses in Valencians and all the runners that come to the race from around the world in October. On the week of the full marathon in November, ANAR will be ever present in the city and at marathon supporting events to raise awareness about children’s rights, this will be especially highlighted on the UN’s Universal children’s day on the 20th of November

Over the years as Valencia’s reputation as a running center has grown, the number of runners has exploded in recent years meaning even more money raised for good causes. Every year the Trinidad Alfonso Marathon and Half Marathon choose a different charity to raise money and awareness for.
