600 runners take part in Valencia’s Global Running Day
Over 600 runners met in Valencia to celebrate Global Running Day, a worldwide event to encourage people to do sport and to pursue a healthy lifestyle. Runners and the city’s main running clubs all took in the event celebrating the sport.
This meeting, held by Valencia Ciudad del Running, consisted of a non-competitive six-kilometre warm-up on the 5-km Circuit and in the Turia Gardens. Refreshments were laid on afterwards as runners relaxed. Precisely on this World Environment Day, Coca-Cola set an example by supplying water and collecting the bottles as part of the company’s ‘Green Events’ initiative. All runners were also given a Luanvi cap as a gift and had the opportunity to enter the 10-kilometre Valencia Ibercaja 2020 Race at a €3 discount.
Leading race organisations, federations, and brands support Global Running Day, with events in 167 nations.
Paco Borao, President of SD Correcaminos (running club) and AIMS, encouraged participants to continue running in Valencia given that the city is ideal for the sport.
