Valencia gets ready to celebrate the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Marathon and 10k
Valencia is gearing up in the countdown to the biggest sporting event of the year 25,000 runners will take to the Valencian streets in the 35th edition of the Valencia Marathon and the 10k. The 10K shares the same start line and finish line as the big race. The city, the people and the runners will all come together to show the world why Valencia is La Ciudad del Running.
Once again, the organizers of the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Marathon and 10K, invite, citizens, runners’ companions, sports lovers and you to fill the streets and bathe in the blue skies as you cheer on the 25,000 runners. Along the course there are over 140 entertainment and crowd gathering points. Also, you can watch all the race on the giant screens at Plaza del Ayuntamiento and Plaza Puerta de la Mar.

A well organized team
The Correcaminos Athletics Club has organized every edition of the 35 Valencia marathons. Every year the Correcaminos club works closely with the Valencian Government and the local police. The race has become much bigger over the last few years and is very professionally run; the Valencia Marathon was awarded the silver label by the IAAF this year. The race will have 400 police officers present, 1200 volunteers, the Red Cross and an army of emergency responders on hand should anything happen. The Valencia Marathon is extremely well organized and everything is measured to the millimeter to make sure that the race is a success every year.

A city in love with running
On the day of the race, we recommend that you use public transport. Many of the roads are closed to traffic and parking in Valencia on race day will be complicated. Please keep an eye on our website and local government sites for transport updates

The big day and the big 42K means that Valencia will be alive with supporting activities to make sure everyone can be involved over the marathon weekend. If you prefer shopping to running you can take part in Valencia Shopping Run. Many shops will dress their windows with sporty themes in celebration of the marathon, in these shops you will find discounts and deals for runners and their companions.
If you have a smartphone you can be one of the thousands that will be recording the event by snapping your friends in the race. If you take a particularly good, interesting or funny photo you should enter your photo into the “Maratón Fotográfico de Valencia”. If your photo is selected, you could see it in an exhibition.
It can be difficult to find healthy food specifically designed for marathon runners. This year in Valencia it will not be a problem. “La hostelería con el Maratón” is an initiative lead by the Trinidad Alfonso foundation and Coca Cola to make sure that many restaurants offer specialist menus for marathon runners. Keep your eyes out for marathon branding in restaurants, they will have a special nutritious meal for you.
