The Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Marathon beats its own participation record with 13,500 registrants two months before the event

21 September, 2015

Valencia, the city of Running, is in luck. The 35th Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Marathon, organised by SD Correcaminos and the Valencian local government, has beaten its own record for participants a little less than two months before its celebration. Today there are already 13,500 marathon runners from all over the world who have chosen Valencia as their destination to compete in the marathon and who will run the Pheidippides distance in Valencia.

With the achievement of this milestone participation, the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia marathon is going to break its participation record again this year while consolidating itself as the sporting event that most represents the city. These record figures are already taking shape and will grow between now and 15 November, since registration for the trial is still open on the official webpage www.maratonvalencia.com. The 8,500 runners who will complete the 10-kilometre challenge in parallel to the marathon must be added to these spectacular figures. Between both tests there are already 22,000 runners who will meet at the start line on the Monteolivete bridge, a figure that will continue to increase in the next two months.

More and more international
As for the current participation register, a big increase in the number of people coming to participate in the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia marathon comes from international runners. The percentage of foreign runners is currently at about 28% of the total number of registrants. Nearly 4,000 runners coming from all over the world have already confirmed that they will be in Valencia next 15 November, surpassing the 3,276 foreign participants in the 2014 edition.

And also more women
On the other hand, the growth in female non-professional participants should not go unnoticed in the current census. So far more than 12% of those registered participants are women, which represents more than 1,600 women who will run the more than 42-kilometre race, another figure that exceeds that of the previous year less than two months before the event, given that 1, 503 women participated in the 2014 edition.
