Valencia has now over 15,000 registered runners in the Marathon and 10,000 in the Half Marathon
The Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon. organized by SD Correcaminos and the Valencia City Government, and the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Half Marathon, have already exceeded 15,000 registered runners in the marathon and 10,000 in the 21,097.5 metre race.
The major running events of the city of Valencia are growing in terms of participation and are now close to reaching their all-time registration high, which were last year’s 16,682 runners in the Marathon and 12,518 in the Half Marathon.
The Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon has now over 15,000 registered runners more than two months away from the event. The participation has risen by 2,000 when compared to the number of registered runners at this time last year, which represents almost a 20% year on year increase.
Thousands of registered runners will enjoy on the blue walkway of Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences. Among them, a total of 4,600 foreign runners, who already account for more than 30% of the total number of participants. Most of the foreign runners who will take part in the Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon come from Italy, with more than 1,300 runners, followed by France, the United Kingdom and Belgium, which have each surpassed 500 registered runners. There are a total of 78 countries represented by their runners in the race. Total participation numbers have already surpassed the ones of 2015, when 4,253 foreign runners took part in the event, and there are still 71 days left for the best Spanish Marathon according to RFEA and the first one to be awarded a Gold Label in Spain.
The Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Half Marathon has also hit 10,000 participants. The good results of this race have resulted in an increase in the number of foreign runners, who have already surpassed 1,700 and come from 67 different nationalities. Among them, Italians take the lead again with almost 700 participants in the Half Marathon of the 23rd of October.
More and more women this year
The Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon has already surpassed last year’s female registration numbers. With almost 2,200 registered women and when there are more than two months left for the most representative running event in the city, Valencia has reached an all-time high with more than 14% of female runners. Women in the Half Marathon represent almost 25% of the total number of participants and they are close to surpassing last year’s registered female runners. These results represent a victory for female runners, who are more and more numerous in the City of Running.
