Paddle Surf

Who hasn’t wished they could “walk” on water beyond the limits of cliffs and beaches? Who doesn’t dream of discovering a thousand hidden places on the coast? Discovering rivers and lakes from a different point of view?

All of this is possible with “Stand Up Paddle Surfing” or SUP, which is a water sport consisting of standing on a board while using a paddle to move around. Runners could participate in both races and Yoga sessions on the boards, and also practicde rotation techniques and many other activities related to this wonderful sport.

Course:

The Valencia Marathon course, starting in the Plaça de la Marató and ending along a walkway over water in the City of Arts and Sciences, is the ideal circuit for achieving a personal best. It is completely flat and at sea level. It runs along large avenues and through the historic centre of the city, where the main tourist attractions are located. In addition, it has numerous cheering stations along the route to help you keep up your pace.

ExpoDeporte Valencia is the place where runners can pick up their bib and runner’s bag and is held on the Friday and Saturday before the race.

A la Lona de Valencia (mental health project)

A la Lona de Valencia is a project to help people with functional diversities arising from severe mental illness to find work. Valencia’s City Centre Shopkeepers Association (ACCHV) came up with the idea and it was developed by CRIS Velluters and Asociación Rincón de Velluters, two organisations promoting the functional rehabilitation of people with mental illness. The initiative involves a workshop where the street banners used to advertise the Valencia Marathon and Half Marathon, which are donated by the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, are turned into designer handbags and other accessories. The final goal is to set up a special employment centre to integrate the beneficiaries into the workforce, through the support of the health care group EULEN Sociosanitarios.

Generali Milan Marathon

The Generali Milan is Italy’s fastest marathon (men’s record 2 hours 04'46'' / women’s record 2 hours 22'25''). The race is on a flat, even circuit, with the start and finish at the same point in the centre of Milan, with only a 125-metre positive gradient and 3.1 kilometres of paving, which is nothing for a city marathon! Ljubljana Marathon

The Ljubljana Marathon is the largest running event in Slovenia. Its high international standing is largely due to its attractive course, running through the streets of Ljubljana. The two main races held as part of the event, a marathon (42 km) and a half marathon (21 km), are accompanied by recreational runs of varying lengths and degrees of difficulty, a 10K race, a 4K fun run, the Lumpi childrens run and a handcycling half marathon so that over the event weekend, runners of all ages are able to find something suitable for their fitness level. SD Correcaminos

Correcaminos is more than a running club; it is a family that loves sport. Why do we have a stand at the Expo? Well, we are the race organisers and we want everyone to know who we are, not least because this is the club’s 40th anniversary. A group of friends began running together in 1979 and ended up organising races including the Volta a Peu, the Saint Sylvester, the Valencia Half Marathon and, of course, the Valencia Marathon. We currently have athletics, triathlon, orienteering and mountain sections, as well as three schools with over 150 children. The club’s headquarters is sited next to Valencia's river and has a gymnasium, body-building gym, social hall, changing rooms and showers. You can enjoy these facilities for just €85 a year, membership entitles you to discounts on our races, access to our Run Plan and of course you will get to know this large family of crazy Valencians — crazy, that is, about running.

Zurich Barcelona Marathon

The Barcelona Marathon and Half Marathon will once again flood the city streets with runners from all over the world in February and March. The Barcelona Marathon will be held on 15th March 2020 and its route is one of its main attractions. The course was inaugurated in 2019 and has proven a runaway success, with records for the race being set in both the men’s and women’s categories. In 2020, it is hoped new records will be set with a route that both takes in the city’s main sights and is lightning-fast. Highlights along the way include: the Sagrada Familia church; Casa Batlló; Camp Nou and the Columbus Monument. The Half Marathon will be held on 16th February 2020. Last year’s race saw a record number of runners with some 19,000 entries. The course is world famous for the Women’s World Records set by the Kenyan athlete Florence Kiplagat in 2014 and 2015, making the race a must for all runners who want to set a new personal best.

Parallel Events

The Bimbo Valencia Breakfast Run is a training session that takes place the day before the Valencia Marathon, very close to the Runners’ Expo in Jardí del Túria park, which brings together runners from many countries to run a 5K race.

The Mini Marathon Valencia MSC is a race for kids that takes place on the Saturday before the marathon and that is run over different distances depending on the age of the ‘young athletes’.

Rookies’ Corner is a forum in which experts from various fields (training, health and nutrition) give talks that are full of useful tips for anyone running a marathon for the first time.

The Paella Party La Fallera brings together thousands of runners and their companions on the day before the Valencia Marathon to enjoy this most international dish and to load up on carbohydrates before running 42 kilometres.

The Medal Party is the official post race party for the Valencia Marathon Trinidad Alfonso Zurich. On Sunday afternoon it’s time to celebrate with the other runners who crossed the finish line of one of the best marathons in the world along with all their friends.

Running Fallero gets the Valencia Ciudad de Running’s ‘Fallas’ Associations involved in the big day. There will be a competition for the best Fallas association cheer station and a ranking for Fallero runners in the marathon. Other initiatives are also held throughout the year.

The Marathon Goes to School is an educational initiative to promote the world of running in Infant and Primary Schools, it allows the pupils to discover the marathon and learn through play.

Through the ‘Shops also Run the Marathon‘ initiative, establishments in the city’s old centre support the Valencia Marathon through different initiatives and by adding to the festive atmosphere on the day of the race.
