Regulations
The 40th Valencia Marathon Trinidad Alfonso EDP is a certified and approved 42,195 km race, with a World Athletics Platinum Label, which is now exclusively for elite runners invited by the organisation.
These regulations cancel and replace, due to the restrictions imposed by Covid-19, the previous race regulations announced in December 2019.
The marathon will be held in conjunction with a parallel Half Marathon race, in search of world records over 21,097 kilometres. Similarly, there will be only professional or semi-professional athletes in that race.
Both races will be approved and controlled by the Judges Committee from the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation. They will be contested under the competition rules issued by World Athletics and the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
This race belongs to the official calendar of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation, so once registered, the basic data for each runner will be transferred to this organisation for processing. It will also be transferred to the insurance company for compulsory accident and civil liability insurance, as well as being used to manage the day licence and popular road race ranking. In addition, the data will be transferred to the main collaborator, the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation (TAF), to facilitate the latter’s collaboration with the organiser. Under all these circumstances, and as established by data protection legislation, the data subject may in the future exercise their rights to access, rectification, deletion, opposition, limitation and portability by writing to or emailing the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation, Avenida de Valladolid nº 81, 28008, Madrid. A statement will be signed declaring knowledge of Covid-19 and, in addition, the data coordination forms will be filled out on the health platform enabled by the organisers, details of which will be provided three weeks before the race. This platform will ensure the traceability of all participants.
Anyone who does not follow these rules or does not consent to be tested for Covid-19 will not be allowed to participate in either race.

Notifications and other considerations
Time control and classification
The race is controlled by the F.A.C.V. Judges Committee.
There will be time checks along the route. Only those participants who run the race with the chip provided by the organisers, placed on the runner’s shoes, will appear in the classification. Runners are required to check the correct functioning of their chip at the corresponding stand at the Runner’s Fair when they collect their bib.
Neither the Organisers nor the sponsors nor the main contributor will assume any responsibility for any malfunctioning of the chip.
Infringements and disqualifications
- 1. The bibs provided by the organisers are personal and non-transferable, and should be placed on the chest without tampering or folding. The time control chip is also personal and non-transferable and must be placed on the participant’s shoes. Failure to comply with this requirement will be grounds for disqualification.
Runners who are not registered or who run without a bib or without the official bib for this edition of the race will not be admitted by the organisers, which will prevent them from accessing the race so as to safeguard the rights of those legally registered.
For the safety of the runners, no unauthorised vehicles will be permitted access. Having verified any irregularity by a runner, the Race Judges and the Organisers reserve the right to disqualify any offender who: does not wear a visible bib, tampers with it and/or gives it to another runner, alters the data provided to the Organisers or to the Referee Judge with regard to the data listed on their ID card or federation form, does not complete the full course, is visibly in poor physical condition, does not provide the Organisers with the required documentation or fails to comply with any other rule referred to in the FACV, RFEA or World Athletics Rules, and/or arrive at the finish line.
It will be obligatory for federated members to compete wearing the clothing of their corresponding club, otherwise they may be sanctioned.
Disqualified runners will have no right to claim prizes or trophies.
- 2. In view of the serious harm that this would cause to the event and the other race runners, should access to the race be gained in violation of the established conditions regarding access, or if there is any irregularity, the Organisers reserve the right to take appropriate measures, in accordance with the applicable law. These measures may include initiating the appropriate civil, criminal or administrative actions to hold the offender liable.
The irregularities that could give rise to the commencement of said action include (i) not being registered in the race and, therefore, not having a bib/chip to participate in the race; (ii) running with the bib number/chip of a third party (without having changed ownership or carrying it hidden); (iii) running with a bib number/chip that does not correspond with that of the race; (iv) running with a counterfeit bib/chip (photocopied or falsified bib). This list is given by way of example and is not limiting, and there may be other irregularities that lead to the initiation of legal action by the organisers.
Both those committing said irregularities and those collaborating with them so they can carry them out will be identified as “offending runners“.
Those runners identified as “offending runners” by the Organisers on the day of the race, will be removed, identified and expelled by the race security staff, in the exercise of their powers, while obtaining the offender’s identification details; photographs, etc, which will be used in order to take the corresponding legal actions.
If the infringement becomes known after the race has been conducted, appropriate actions will be taken at the time the infringement becomes known.
“Offending runners” will receive the notifications and/or summonses for the proceedings at which their possible responsibilities will be judged, so as to be able to take part in them.
Route
The route will be marked with a line and all the kilometre points signposted in accordance with World Athletics rules. There will be liquid supplies at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 kilometres, approximately, as well as one final point at the finish line.
Medical Services
Medical services will be located along the route, as well as in the starting and finish area. All registered runners are required to fill in the back of the bib with their first name, last name, phone number in case of emergency, whether they have any medical problems (allergy, special care, etc.) or are under specific treatment, as well as their blood type.
Authorised vehicles
The only vehicles authorised to follow the race will be those designated by the organisers. It is completely forbidden to follow runners on motorcycles, bicycles, skates or any other wheeled vehicle. The local police and race judges will remove them from the course to avoid accidents.
Insurance
The organisers disclaim all liability for any damage, harm or injury that participants in this race may suffer or cause to third parties, although it has accident and civil liability insurance that will cover the incidents inherent to the race.
Complaints
Complaints must be made orally to the Referee Judge, no later than 30 minutes after the results are officially communicated. The decision of the Referee Judge is final.

I declare that I am in optimal health to participate in the 40th Valencia Marathon Trinidad Alfonso EDP, having the total certainty of being in sufficient physical and psychological shape to do so and having received positive results in the relevant medical checks, being free from any disease, pathology, injury, or any other health problem that makes my participation inadvisable. In the event that, at the time of the race, there has been any change in my state of health, I agree not to participate in the race.
During the race, I will cooperate with the Organisers as far as I am able, to avoid personal accidents and behave appropriately, avoiding endangering my health, or that of other people. I also authorise the Organisers to use photographs, videos and any other type of audiovisual material in which I may appear, accepting the publication of my name in the results for the event, in the media and/or on the internet, without expecting any payment, compensation or remuneration for this”.

Consent
- 1. By registering for the Valencia Marathon Trinidad Alfonso EDP, participants give their consent to the event organiser, S.D. Correcaminos, as well as to its Main Partner, the Valencian Community Trinidad Alfonso Mocholí Foundation, and any other Sponsor and/or Collaborator in the race, by themselves or through third parties, to store, process and use their name, results, as well as their image collected during the race using photos, videos, live tracking, or estimation of their position on the course during the race in the official app, or any other media, processing their personal data exclusively for sporting, promotional or commercial purposes, as well as their image during the race through photographs, videos, etc., using any device (internet, advertising, etc) and without time limit.
- 2. The list of results will be published on the website.
- 3. The live tracking performed through the official race app can be viewed by any user who downloads the application for free, which is available on Google Play and Apple Store. This option allows the participants in the race to be followed in real time through their name or their bib number. It is a feature offered to runners so that their family, friends and the general public can locate the runner on the route.
By default, the tracking is carried out through the runner’s chip that connects with sensors distributed along the route. Between sensors, the application takes the runner’s average speed to estimate their location, so the location may not be completely accurate during those periods. The app also offers the option to enable GPS tracking in case the race is undertaken carrying a mobile device. In this case, the runner’s position will be as accurate as the app allows.
The “LiveTracking Privacy Info” option on the app allows the runner to configure this functionality, so the display can be set to (i) Public, any user entering the runner’s name or bib number can see where they are; (ii) Pin code, so only users to whom the runner provides a preset pin can track their position, or (iii) Hidden, so no one can track their position.
Neither the organisers, sponsors, nor the main contributor are responsible for any possible location errors that may occur on the app.
