Charity entity

In each edition of the Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon a charitable cause is chosen as the main beneficiary of all the charity funds raised through the Marathon and its accompanying events. The array of contributions helps to build the event and to focus the fund-raising efforts of the runners and the organization itself. These donations and contributions reinforce the social aspect of the MVTA, translating into a real difference in the lives of those in need.

As the number of participants in each edition of the Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon has increased, so have the charitable donations to good causes. Since its inception the Correcaminos Athletics Club (the original MVTA organizer) has always maintained that the Valencian Marathon should have commitments to various good causes and NGOs.

The money, destined for social purposes, is obtained from two main sources: firstly, from the contributions made by the runners participating in the race or its parallel events, and secondly, from the contribution and commitment of the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, which helps to convert the runners’ effort into support through initiatives related to the event. All the money collected is delivered to the charity once the event is over.

In the table below we detail the contributions made to different charities in recent editions of the event:

In addition, it is worth noting that there are multiple routes though which joint participation in charitable events is encouraged. As such, these are some of the different activities linked to the Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon charitable organization:

€1 for every runner that reaches the finish line

A €1 charitable donation for each runner that reaches the finish line is perhaps the most notable action that the Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon organization has established and it is the one that best distills the character of the event: A prize for each runner’s effort, which was initiated by the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, the event’s main partner. Their donations transform the achievement of each runner that reaches the finish line after overcoming the 42,195 meter run into charitable funds donated to the charitable trust.

• Impuls València

Impuls València is an opportunity to meet celebrities and athletes on the eve of the MVTA. This activity, which is driven by the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation and represents the countdown to the marathon, has a charitable donation entrance fee of €5, which is all donated to the edition’s charitable cause.

• Children’s Mini-Marathon

The Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Children’s Mini-Marathon, which celebrated its first edition in 2014, establishes and promotes the enjoyment of a background in athletics among the youngest. This activity, supported by the Mapfre Foundation, and the Municipal Sports Games, aims to promote the enjoyment of sports. As a pretext for social involvement, upon registering for it, a €1 token donation will be made to the event’s charitable organization.

Registration donations

Registration is the first step in the decision to participate in the Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon. Therefore every runner has the option to make an extra donation of €3 to the edition’s main charitable cause during their personal registration process.

Charitable Cheer Station at the last Kilometer

Although this action does not involve a financial contribution towards the chosen charity, it does promote close emotional involvement with the race. The last kilometer of a marathon is always unique and different. This is why the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, along with the charitable organization for each edition, sets up a cheering station at this point, from where people linked with the cause cheer on the runners and thank them for their support.

Apart from all of the mentioned activities, every edition represents a new challenge for organizing the MVTA, meaning that the development of new activities and commitments in support of its charitable organization is constant.
