Participation in Valencia Marathon hits an all-time high with more than 18,800 registered runners

More than 18,800 people will run the Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon, organized by Sociedad Deportiva Correcaminos and the Valencia City Government, which will take place on the 20th of November. Less than three weeks away from the race, the number of registered runners is already the highest in the Valencia Marathon history and it represents an increase of 13% compared to last year’s edition. Valencia, the City of Running, has a lot to celebrate since his will be the first marathon in Spain to be awarded IAAF Road Race Gold Label, which certifies this is one of the best 42,195 metre race in the world.

Participation in the Valencian race has hit an all-time high and such an increase in the number of runners is linked both to a surge in international runners and women. There will be more than 5,800 international runners in the 36th edition of the Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon, which represents a growth of 36% compared to 2015 numbers. At least one person from 82 countries and 5 different continents will take part in the race.

Besides, there has been an increase of 29% in the number of women compared to last year with almost 2,700 women taking part in the Valencia Marathon. In fact, women participation has grown as much as general participation and women will represent more than 14% of runners in the big event that will take place in Valencia in 2016.

Marathon registration is still open

If you haven’t decided whether to run the Valencia Marathon yet, you still have the chance to sign up for it. Race numbers are subject to availability and registration costs €90. You can still sign up on the official website www.maratonvalencia.com until race numbers sell out. As for the 10K Valencia Trinidad Alfonso, the short-distance race that will take place at the same time that the great Valencia Marathon, all race numbers are sold out.
