Charity

PayaSOSpital is this year’s official charity to which runners can make a donation is they so wish. The voluntary donation is €3, which will be added to the sum contributed by Fundación Trinidad Alfonso (foundation) as part of its ‘€1 per Finisher’ initiative for the race on the 25th of October 2020.

PayaSOSpital is a charity that brightens the lives of children hospitalised in the Valencian Autonomous Region. It has been working since 1999, organising regular visits by professional clowns whose performances are tailored to each child’s needs and are carefully co-ordinated by health staff.

Commitment to Society

Over time, the donations made to charities by the Valencia Half-Marathon Trinidad Alfonso EDP have grown in parallel with the race. SD Correcaminos (running club), as one of the race’s Organisers, has always sought to make a strong commitment to the worthy causes serving society’s needs.

In addition to the voluntary donations made by runners taking part in the trial, Fundación Trinidad Alfonso, the main collaborator in the trial, has sought to link its initiatives fostering an effort-based culture with charitable causes. Accordingly, any runner wishing to contribute towards this year’s charity may do so by buying a charity bib. All donations will be handed over to the charity once the event has ended.

Many ways of donating

€1 donation per Finisher

The donation of €1 per Finisher is perhaps the best-known of the charitable initiatives undertaken by Valencia Marathon Trinidad Alfonso EDP. It rewards the effort made by each runner and is an initiative by Fundación Trinidad Alfonso, the main collaborator in the trial, which pays over the sum collected to the charity in each edition for all runners completing the 21,097-metre race.

Charity Entry

Entering the race is the first step on the path to the Valencia Marathon Trinidad Alfonso EDP. At this stage, each runner has the choice of earmarking an additional sum to the official charity for that year’s edition. This voluntary contribution is €3.

All those who will not be running in the race but who still wish to make a donation may do so through our ‘charitable entry’.

Charity Kilometre

Although this initiative does not entail any donation to the charity, it does forge a strong emotional link with the race. The last kilometre of the half-marathon is the beginning of the countdown to sporting triumph. That is why Fundación Trinidad Alfonso (foundation) works with the charity in each edition to set up a support point to cheer runners on as they enter the home straight. People linked to the charity man this support point to encourage the athletes to make one final effort.

Apart from the aforementioned activities, each edition is a new challenge for the Organisers of the Valencia Half-Marathon Trinidad Alfonso EDP. The Organisers therefore continually strive to come up with new activities and commitments to help charities.
