The city

Valencia, much more than running

Valencia is a paradise for athletes, especially for anyone who loves running, who put it on their must-do list.

Ciudad Valencia - Turismo

Its mild climate year round, its flat streets and numerous outdoor spaces designed for running have positioned the city of Turia as one of the favorite places for runners. And no wonder. Running here is a joy and the range of culture, cuisine and sights Valencia offers make the stay even more memorable. Valencia is a tourist destination that offers much more than just sun and beach, although it has those too. It has a mixture of history, natural spaces, tradition and modernity that make it different from any major capital city.

Valencia’s wide range of tourist attractions

Within a short distance you have sights ranging from the 1st century BC to the most futuristic architecture of the present day. And you can also make your way over to Valencia Marina, a modern complex for water sports enthusiasts where you can enjoy the atmosphere in its restaurant area.

The Mediterranean is an important part of the city; the fine golden sand of Malvarrosa Beach is very close to the centre, in less than 15 minutes you can go from a museum to a dip in the sea! Another of Valencia’s charms is that nature merges with its urban spaces. Just 20 kilometres from the city is the Albufera Natural Park, one of the most important coastal wetlands on the Mediterranean.

And cutting through the city centre is Turia Gardens, the jewel in the crown for Valencians and tourists alike; a nine-kilometre green space in the old riverbed. In addition to being the city’s lung, “El Río” is the ideal place to practice sport, with its 5K Circuit designed specifically for running.

And to top it all off, in recent years it has become committed to sustainability with urban remodeling ensuring traffic gives way to pedestrians and bicycles. Valencia has earned the accolade of being the perfect city for tourism and for organising sports activities, congresses and all kinds of events.
